FIFA Manager 08 allows the player to take control of a football team. The player has almost the complete club in his control, including the ability to design and build a stadium for the team, invest money into facilities, or set the price of tickets. The player can choose his level of commitment to the club, and for instance, decide only to manage the first team.
The game builds on the previous version, keeping a similar user interface. The player can pick between a 3D engine or a text-based commentary to view matches. Like its predecessors, it offers real player names (although the names of international competitions are fictional). Bright Future attempted to make the transfers more realistic than in the previous versions, with more in-depth negotiations with other clubs. The scouting system has also been improved, and now the player can learn how to sail, with the hope that one day his sailing skills might allow him to convince his president to increase his budget by taking him on a trip.

New features
There are tons of new and innovative features: Simulation mode (where you can simulate 20 seasons overnight), set up youth camps all over the world (simply choose the country and location), a Hall of Fame for top players, a 24- hour ticker for transfers at the last moment at the end of the transfer window, test matches against your own amateur and youth teams, 20 personal prizes for you as manager (for example the golden Key to the city), and more.
