The game is great - I remember Frontier Elite 2, where I spent dozens of hours and the game never ended. These games don't get old - great stuff.

This is worth it I'd say. A nice addition to an already massive game. It's nice to have the option to just head out there on foot if all that trucking across the galaxy gets old. Beware that it does tax your hardware in a way that the base game doesn't. I'm not really sure why this is, because it isn't obvious by just looking at the game. Something's definitely tank the fps though. Still, worth it if hardware can handle it. I roll with an old gtx 1070 clocked close to base 1080 levels, and 1440 on medium achieve 60 fps most of the time.

Odyssey immediately had me worried on boot up, I had really bad aliasing on every surface and it looked substantially worse than Horizons, finally figured out it was FSR automatically turned on and set to performance mode but showing in settings as "off". After turning it "on" and off again the game ran and looked great on a 4090. Without a high end card this DLC still suffers from pretty poor optimization but with some tweaking you can get it running well.. While the dlc is worth the price of a key and a lot of launch problems have been taken care of, the game is still chunky and requires a halfway decent system to run above medium 1080p 60fps.
