The title draws from classics, focusing on what's most important: atmosphere, graphics, style, and of course, sound design. The game was nurtured by artist and animator James Wragg, who works for the studio Lovely Hellplace, the creators of Dread Delusion.
The game is set in the Oniric Islands, floating in the air, as the surface of the world became uninhabitable after the apocalypse. Currently, it's under the control of the Apostolic Union, which has seized power through force. Our protagonist enters the whirlwind of events upon awakening, quickly realizing he's a prisoner. Fortunately, he receives an offer he can't refuse: the chance to be free again. In exchange, his task is to hunt down the leader of the Dark Star mercenaries, Vela Callose. It won't be an easy task, but one of the gods favors us, increasing the hero's chances of success in this mysterious mission.
Exploration in the steampunk world of Dread Delusion will be a crucial, if not the most important, element of gameplay. Through exploration, we'll discover new locations, key characters offering new tasks, and engage in trade. During our journey, we'll encounter wild monsters and treasure chests that will enhance our experience, provide new equipment, and secret knowledge, allowing us to acquire new skills. The time of day when embarking on a journey in the open world of the game matters. Depending on the time of day, different contents await us in the chests. Dread Delusion strongly emphasizes combat gameplay. This form of entertainment has been simplified by the developers to provide fun, enjoyment, and excitement. The latter is achieved through dynamism, which the game has in abundance right from the start. What will we fight with? In our arsenal, we'll find swords, bows, firearms, and a dagger combined with a pistol. It's evident that the creators approached this matter with great creativity. Additionally, we can utilize spells and potions to increase our strength and health levels.
Four attributes that are of fundamental importance! Strength, cunning, wisdom, and character. Which one is the most important? It all depends on the direction our hero takes. Each of these attributes significantly influences gameplay, as in a classic RPG. As a result, we determine the increase in our character's attack, defense, agility, or the ability to cast spells or pick locks. Character development will be possible through 'Delusions,' which are skulls visible during exploration and upon completing various tasks.
