After my first successful playthrough on vanilla I can definitely say this is not an easy game but it is extremely fun and rewarding. The game's story, design and sound tracks do an amazing job of maintaining tension and the liberty the game gives you, even within its limited structure, is very engaging. It also combines a lot of elements, from city planning to resource management and political control. It also requires a fair bit of strategic thinking a foreplanning to prepare for unpredictable environmental events and internal instabilities. And even if you manage to weather all the adversities, the game still makes you reflect on the choices you've made and whether you took your autocratic power too far.
