United we stand – Crowdfunding in videogames!

Imagine a huge piggy bank and thousands of people dropping money into it… well, basically that’s what Crowdfunding is. How about a piggy bank with these words on it: FOR A VIDEO GAME!

How do you put weight on the piggy?

They say that money can’t buy happiness… and they are wrong. Money can buy games, or even better – money can bring games to life, and that’s basically the same! In the nooks and crannies of the Internet you can find magical websites called Crowdfunding platforms. Those are the happy places for anyone with an idea. And when the idea is awesome, there is a huge possibility that it will see the light of day!

The first game ever funded with crowdfunding was Resonance in 2009. The campaign target was $150, but the game earned $2080; that was something. However, a real breakthrough came with Broken Age, when Tim Schafer, an undeniable video game star, came up with his new idea on Kickstarter! And that was it! Everybody got crazy about crowdfunding!

On sites such as Kickstarter, Independent or Indiegogo people from all around the World joining their forces to support a project they believe in. Why? Because small donations made by many can make piggy really fat. :) And when piggy is fat, the world becomes a better place.

So let’s get straight to the point and take a close look at the best video games established by players!

As you see, the potential of crowdfunding platforms is huge. Maybe one day you will come up with some brilliant idea, and your video game will be the one to support. Or maybe you already did, huh?
