This game, when played in VR, is downright breathtaking. Easily the best VR experience I've ever had; it's my new escape from this terrible planet we live on. With 400 billion systems in the (procedurally) accurately-rendered galaxy, you could literally spend a lifetime in this game and not see 0.1% of our Milky Way. Don't fear the learning curve, or lack of linear campaign; instead, embrace the fact that the game simply gives you a spaceship and tells you to have fun.

This game is actually quite good, and there's a lot behind it. The game's flight mechanics are so simple that it's quicker than most flight games, easy to pick up and intuitive to control. When you enter this game, expect a learning curve and have some of the fun exploring all the things you can do while learning. If you expect the game to tell you how to play beyond the basic tutorials or what you need to do to experience the game, you'll stumble around for an hour, stop in anger, and then feel like the game is lacking in content and you were torn out. This game is a sandbox. Be ready to find your own way.

This game is truly fantastic, one of the best of its kind. The map is made up of millions of millions of systems and planets. Crazy graphics.

This game is really quite good, and there is a lot to it. The game's flight mechanics are simple enough that they can be easily grasped and intuitively controlled faster than with most flight games. Entering this game, you should expect a learning curve, and for part of the fun being exploring all the things you can do as you learn. If you're expecting the game to tell you how to play beyond basic tutorials or what to do to experience the game, you're going to blunder around for an hour, rage quit, and then feel the game lacks content and you were ripped off. This game is a sandbox. Be prepared to find your own way. Lets get to the game itself

Real bummer. I was looking forward to having this in VR, even bought a HOTAS but even with repeat visits to tech support couldnt get the ship out of the hangar. After owning it for awhile, cursing the technical issues I see other reviews that squelched what little enthusiasm I had left by basically saying it was the most god awful technical game in the world. I was really hoping for something just above arcade style action and going to flight school every day after work so i can learn how to play a video game was definitely not what i was shopping for.
