Survival is just the beginning.

Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City.
Agent Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been sent to rescue the president's kidnapped daughter.

And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect.

Featuring modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics,
Resident Evil 4 marks the rebirth of an industry juggernaut.

Relive the nightmare that revolutionized survival horror.

So I really liked both the game as a title itself and that it's a really solid remake. I still think the OG is a funner title to play because it feels like an arcadey game; while the remake is more of an experience; but still a fun one. Like don't get me wrong I think I prefer the OG title more, but only ever so slightly; that's how good this remake is. The gameplay is solid and it's both a perfect mix of a different yet somehow same game. Honestly most of my gripes are narrative ones and cosmetic looks; I prefer Saddlers OG look and characterization. He came off as an outsider conman who wanted to exploit the villagers and the plaga. I loved his quips against Leon; which there are less of in the remake. However the remake Saddler seems less conman and more actual cultist. I always assumed he was an outsider to the village but there are ephitats scattered in the ruins that allude to prior lineage. Now mind you again, I really did like his new look and VO work; but I still prefer OG Saddler, there's something iconic about him. I didn't like that we saw more of the bugs (Novistadors); I honestly feel they're the weakest part of the game. Overall all though almost all the redesigns are fantastic, and I didn't once felt that any part of the game was taking too long. It's definitely one of my favorites.

This is the best game in years, my expectations of the game were fully met and even exceeded! The difficulty level is high in Veteran mode, even for those who played the original! Default is just right. Assisted is relatively easy. In contrast to Resi Evil 2 and 3, Resi 4 Remake deals with the inhabitants of the Spanish village, who, in contrast to the zombies of the predecessors, are much more agile - they attack dozens of times, so that you hardly have time to blow and initially already has a hard time getting to grips with the somewhat clumsy controls. It must be said that Leon's mobility is higher than in Resident Evil 2, first of all he can run faster now, but he doesn't really sprint, but only moderately fast trots forward. In order to start the trot, you have to push the stick fully down, otherwise it just traipses at walking speed, which doesn't work at all. The dodge roll from part 3 is missing, so you can only counter attacks by parrying in time and then stabbing with the knife or catching the "stun" (in contrast to the original, it is random whether an opponent is stunned with a headshot)

A masterpiece remake of one oof gaming's most esteemed masterpieces. Everything ya loved about the original and so so much more, from level & encounter design, and fleshing out of characters, it is one of the best games to get this year, and what a surprise, it runs excellently.
