Kickstarter of the week - Tango

From January 5 to March 6 on Indiegogo can donate the creators of the device known as the Tango. After a month they have doubled their goal of $100.000. What is so interesting about this project?

Joining the trend toward tiny computers, Tango has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to create the “world’s most portable computer.”

The company says it can pack a full quad-core Windows PC into a device the size of a smartphone. Sounds cool, right? Check the whole specification:

Processor: AMD A6-5200 Quad Core 2GHz, up to 25 watts, with integrated GCN GPU HD8400

Memory: SODIMM DDR3-1600 socket x1 (from 2GB to 8GB). Laptop RAM

Storage: SATA III mSATA SSD Socket x1. (from 32GB to 512GB or higher)

Operating System: Any laptop PC compatible OS can run on Tango (Windows 7, 8 Pro, Linux flavors, Chrome, etc). Windows 7 and 8 Pro will be certified to run.

And that's all packed into a 125mm X 80mm X 13.5mm device! Well this is only size of the PC. You will need also 135mm X 135mm X 27mm dockport with HDMI, USB, WiFI, audio and dc connectors but still it is smaller than box of tissues or external DVD drive.

The Tango has a small battery. When you take it out of the docking station, it goes into sleep mode so you don’t lose your data. When you plug it back in, you can pick up where you left off and for example contine your work at home. The Tango device transfers heat from the computer to the docking station, which has the heatsink and the fan.

What about the price? Standard version that contains PC and one DockPort costs $449 and any additional DockPort costs $89. This is the price of freedom.
