The loveable self-obsessive ‘superhero’

Deadpool just seems to ooze style with his rather efficient killing methods pumping out wisecracks.

So I woke up with morning and my Deadpool download was done on Steam. Little did I know I probably should have woken up a little bit more before starting it. I am met with a start screen featuring scratching his crotch with a pistol. I left my monitor and got myself a glass of orange juice and composed myself. I came back 5 minutes later to it now fully prepared for what Deadpool was surely to throw at me… Or at least so I though.

I am met with a wonderful prompt telling me to press space to make Deadpool get off his arse. I do so and am met with a myriad of things to do around the so called Merc With the Mouth’s apartment. I don’t want to ruin anything because there are some genuinely funny moments to be had and this is just the first 5 minutes, I can tell I am going to enjoy this game.

So after witnessing all of the little things to do in the apartment (my personal favourite being a certain phone call) I start my adventure. I set out to kill a mob boss who happens to live in a quite tall tower so as we fight our ways to the top I must say the gameplay is great. It reminds me of an action orientated Batman Arkham combat system. There is a wide assortment of weapons from your default dual wielding pistols to assault rifles. There is also a wide arrangement of melee weapons to unlock though the dual katanas are my favourite weapon.

Deadpool just seems to ooze style with his rather efficient killing methods pumping out wisecracks. You can tell he is having the time of his life and to be honest I am quite enjoying it as well! Slow motion launchers followed with a headshot are so satisfying that they are addictive.

I don’t want to ruin the game for you because there are some moments that you need to see to believe. All I can say is that I highly recommend this to fans of the anti-hero or newcomers to the character. In case you are wondering I don’t know a lot about Deadpool but I do know some bits and pieces mainly from a friend of mine who loves the comics so hopefully that helps you gauge where you stand on the topic.

Even putting the Deadpool theme to one side this game stands out on its own for its great humour and satisfying gameplay.
