David Bowie has passed away at age 69!

David Bowie died after an 18 month battle with cancer, and just three days after release of his 26th album. During his 50-year career, one of music’s greatest innovators sold over 140 million albums worldwide. Five of his 26 studio releases went platinum and seven went gold. He received two Grammys and three BRIT Awards. In 1996 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

You may not know this but he made two cameo appearances in the 1999 video game The Omikron: The Nomad Soul.

The Omikron: The Nomad Soul is an adventure game set in a dark, futuristic city known as Omikron. Your protagonist, or actually his soul, is brought to a parallel reality by an evil demon. How? By a video game named the OMIKRON. Once gamers load up the game, their souls are claimed by the demon, and it just so happens that you are one of those unlucky fellows who purchased the title. However your character’s soul has the ability to inhabit the bodies of other people. This skill will be very useful to stop the evil demon Astaroth from claiming more souls.

David Bowie created the The Nomad Soul's soundtrack, writing a number of songs specifically for the game, and the soundtrack later evolved into the album Hours…

Bowie also had some input into the storyline and the design, and of course, he appeared in it twice, but not as himself:

first as Boz, a rebel wanted by the authorities…

… and the second time, as the lead singer of the fictional band “The Dreamers”

The game is an interesting mix of adventure with other genres such as first person shooters, fighting games and even a puzzle game. Tottaly worth playing!

David Bowie once said: I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring”.

Have fun wherever you are!

We are going to miss this amazing artist, who has changed the face of music forever!
